I quit Retail in 2012 and joined Molten-Wow (Aka Warmane) in March 2013, and have been participating in End-Game raiding here ever since. I'm an Australian player who has been raiding on Retail WoW since Burning Crusade in 2007, on the North American region's Oceanic retail-wow Servers Frostmourne and Barthilus Some of you guys may know me by Raenel or Fondling on Icecrown. Welcome to Raenel's comprehensive Feral Tanking Guide!įirstly, we should start with an introduction. I also HIGHLY recommend using Glyph of Maul for pre raid gearing, this glyph is amazing in dungeons and during trash fights. +24 stamina (and later +30 stamina gems, when released) will become your bread and butter once get into raids, and should be your main focus on item level 200+ purple items. Agility will help you keep threat from geared DPS'ers, as well as boost your avoidance and armor making it easier to tank heroics in your early stages. The best items to use are the Tank items that DON'T have defense rating on them, there's quite a few of these throughout each tier, such as the ring from naxx25, or from Drak'Tharon Keep which will always be the best items for bears at their respective item levels.Įarly on, going purely Stamina-gems may make you hard to heal by low geared healers, so you may wish to invest in a few cheap and disposeable +12 agility gems for your 187 and 200 blue items, overriding them later with +24 stamina gems when required. Just make sure to avoid any parry or block stats.
Note that bears should always be using Leather agility gear, but for rings/necks you can use either Tanking items which are better for raiding builds, OR agility dps items which can be better for early heroic dungeon farming.

Feel free to remove 2 points from Brutal Impact. My personal talent build for early Heroics and pre-raid farming. If you want more information regarding some regular Frostmourne tips in early Tier 7, click below: I've also done a little bit of touching up on the Talents/Glyphs section to remove redundant information and make these sections a bit more friendly for Frostmourne bears. However, almost all of the information contained in this guide, especially the concepts involved are still correct.

Please note that the majority of this guide is aimed at Icecrown, the 3.3.5 WotLK server with mostly 5k+ or 6k+ GS players farming ICC, and I will not be doing a full revision to cater towards the new seasonal servers on Warmane. I've been receiving alot of questions relating to Frostmourne, the new progression server. For the most part, it seems like the Warmane devs have been doing a great job at keeping things Retail-Like, which means practically all of the information provided in the guide remains accurate even years after I originally drafted the guide, and the last revision that I made in 2017 seems to have fixed the last of the inaccurate Warmane-specific information. A bit of work was done to fix some formatting errors in the guide, and a couple of typos were cleaned up.
